S. Korea, China agree to launch defense chiefs' hotline

South Korea and China agreed to set up a hotline between their defense ministers,
a South Korean diplomat said Wednesday, in another clear sign of improved ties
between the former battlefield foes.

The agreement was reached at bilateral talks earlier in the day in Beijing between
South Korean Vice Defense Minister Baek Seung-joo and
China's army deputy chief of staff Wang Guanzhong, said the diplomat
who attended the one-day talks.
